John A. Cochran received his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2001. Prior to law school, he received a Master of Science in Taxation from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from West Virginia University. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice both law and accounting in Pennsylvania. Mr. Cochran has more than twenty years of experience as a tax analyst and was employed by various regional certified public accounting firms. He also had his own legal practice in the Mon Valley area for several years prior to joining Minto Law Group, LLC. While in public accounting, he was involved in a wide variety of individual, business and charitable organization tax issues ranging from corporate reorganizations to complex estate, gift and income tax return preparation.

Mr. Cochran's practice spans a wide range of commercial matters such as business enterprises including the tax ramifications of particular transactions, corporate formations and governance, shareholder disputes, asset protection and mergers and acquisitions. He represents taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities, as well as advising clients of their estate and gift planning options.

Mr. Cochran is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Westmoreland County Bar Association.

Mr. Cochran is a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County and is currently active in local government as a member of Sewickley Township Planning Commission. He is married with three school age children.
